Chris Young at DSRE celebrates 20 years in the industry!

Chris Young was 17 years old and had just recently graduated high school when he met an old family friend for lunch one day. That lunch was the catalyst for a now 20-year career in real estate and a friendship that has only strengthened throughout the years.

Young, was only 17 years old when he graduated high school and was still trying to decide on what he wanted to do with his life. He had graduated from then Indian River Community College with an Associate's Degree through the Dual Enrollment program. When family friend and broker Jim Goldsmith invited him to lunch one day, Young had no idea the path his life would take by the end of that day. Goldsmith convinced Young to attend real estate school, get his license and come work for him at his local brokerage.

"I took my real estate license test in Orlando on June 28, 2004 and immediately thereafter, drove to an open house Jim was hosting in Sebastian", Young said. "The ink was barely dry but I had passed my test and at age 18, I was eager to get started."

Young joined Goldsmith's Team and followed him through a couple merges and the sale of the brokerage. It was at that time Goldsmith joined Dale Sorensen Real Estate (DSRE) team in Vero Beach and shortly thereafter Young followed him there. "As soon as I met the Sorensen family, I knew that was where the next phase of my real estate career would be. They are the nicest people in the world. They showed me that it was important to treat all customers and properties alike, regardless of price point."

Making the move to Vero Beach was a very natural and comfortable move for Young. He had spent his summers growing up in Vero Beach where much of his mother's family lived, including his beloved grandmother, Ruthie Scharfschwerdt. "My grandmother was the assistant librarian at Vero Beach Elementary School for more than 40 years. Everyone knew Miss Ruthie and loved her. We would go out into the community and people would always stop and talk to her; she had all the time in the world for her former students."

Now 20 years later, Young enjoys an impeccable reputation within the real estate industry, and is frequently a Top Producer and is a member of the President's Club at DSRE.

Young is married with three children and still has a close relationship with his friend and mentor, Jim Goldsmith. "I truly owe my success to Jim, the years he has spent mentoring me, helping me be the best real estate agent I can be. I am very appreciative of that."

Chris is certified by the Counsel of Residential Specialists and specialises in residential properties, vacant land and agricultural properties. In his spare time, he enjoys camping with his family and playing golf.
